Organic Design Leveraging Print Flexibility
A custom product development project to create a pendant lamp that takes full advantage of 3D printing's unique geometric possibilities. The design combines transparent PLA elements for light diffusion with opaque parts for structure and visual contrast.
The complex organic geometry, inspired by natural forms, creates suggestive plays of light and shadow throughout the space. The modular design allows size customization and simplified assembly, with each element printed using optimized orientations to ensure both mechanical strength and aesthetic quality.
The challenge was ensuring structural support for the weight of lighting fixture and electrical components, managing assembly complexity of organic geometries, and optimizing light transmission and diffusion through printed surfaces. The result is a unique piece that showcases the design freedom of additive manufacturing.
